Sunspots are brownish spots that most of us get every time we stay out in the sun for too long. They are sometimes referred to as age spots or liver spots. They usually appear on the arms, shoulders, neck and face since these are the areas of our body that get exposed the most. Though stepping out in the sun might give you those sunshine vitamins, excessive exposure can lead to serious damage to your skin by the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays. In addition, too much sun exposure can also cause premature skin aging, wrinkling, and rough skin.

Wondering how to deal with sunspots and other harmful effects of the sun? Here are some methods to make those sunspots disappear.

The best way to deal with sunspots is to protect yourself, first and foremost. When stepping out in the sun, wear protective clothing, cap or hat and sunglasses. You can also forego those if you apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before heading outside.

If you want to remove your sunspots, you can consult a dermatologist for your options. Among the cosmetic dermatology treatments available for sunspots is chemical peeling. Here, the damaged outer layer of your skin, the epidermis, is removed to eliminate those sunspots. Laser treatments are also available for treating age spots, removing wrinkles and making fine lines disappear.

Microdermabrasion is also a common dermatologic procedure where the damaged epidermis is exfoliated to promote the growth of new skin. This procedure is commonly used for scar and blemish removal.
